You
decide to investigate the Squirrelwood. Kaytara
trots in front of you, and finally stops and says,
"We're
there."
You
look around, and immediately understand why this
is called Squirrelwood. Squirrels are everywhere,
and the air is full with bird noise. A young fawn
steps out of the bushes and approaches you. You
realise this is the same fawn that you played with.
"He
seems to like you. Very much," Kaytara says
thoughtfully as the fawn nuzzles your jacket, looking
for anything tasty. "You can adopt him if you
wish. Just please make sure the page he goes to
is green and pretty, like a forest. And don't forget
to link back to the home page of
this site
in case people will want to check it out when the
see the deer."
You
advance further into the forest. A squirrel hops
to you and stands on its hind, sniffing at you curiously.
Two
cute rabbits play with each other.
"These
are for adoption as well, same as the squirrel."
Suddenly you
hear a beautiful, melodic song. It sounds like
a flute played along with a metallophone. You've
read Harry Potter, and you can say that only phoenix
songs can be as beautiful as this.
"What
is that sound?" you ask, sighing delightfully.
"That
is one of the last phoenix mating songs in this
season."
"Phoenix?!"
"Yes.
Look, there's one!" Kaytara points with her
horn towards something in the tree nearby and neighs.
You gasp as a bird as large as a peacock emerges
from the tree. It has a long neck, a small, round
head with a long, thin beak, giant wings and a
beautiful tail reminding a rooster's. With a sonorous
trill the bird glides away.
"Phoenixes
are very beautiful," says Kaytara.
"Can
I adopt a phoenix?" you sigh hopefully.
"Yes,
but not this one. Phoenixes are only adopted as
eggs. There are a lot of clutches laid recently,
as the mating season has just ended. So you can."
But
then you see another phoenix creature. It has a
fiery colouring.
"Oh,
this is a fenix called Fhenix. It's a variety of
a phoenix, but this one is more bred as a pet. The
difference is like that between a wolf and a poodle
dog. More a decorative pet, get it? We got him from
the Secret
Garden."

the adoption glade
